U srijedu, 7. svibnja u 15:00 sati, u prostoriji B102 na Medicinskom fakultetu održat će se motivacijsko predavanje u sklopu TRIBEvizije. Predavanje drži prof. Holger Schünemann, McMaster University, Kanada, i Humanities University, Italija.

Naslov predavanja je “How decision thresholds change approaches to research and evidence assessment”.

Što je decision threshold?

"According to the threshold model when faced with uncertainty about whether to treat, order a test, or simply observe the patient, there may exist some probability of disease at which a physician is indifferent between administering versus not administering treatment and ordering versus not ordering a diagnostic test. These are known as the treatment threshold, the test-treatment threshold and testing threshold, respectively. (...)  the threshold model expresses a fundamental principle of rationality of choice: it is rational for a doctor to act (i.e. order a diagnostic test, prescribe treatment )and for the patient to accept the proposed health intervention when one believes that benefits (gains) of such action will outweigh its harms (losses)."
